LUDHIANA: Ranging from floral to animal, prints are in vogue this season and a mix of prints is no longer considered a fashion disaster. "The key to getting the look right is pairing up a subtle print with a contrasting bright and complicated print. The focus of your ensemble should be one dominant print," said Navisha Goyel, a designer who completed her fashion designing course from Sportking, Ludhiana.
One needs to understand the concepts when experimenting with prints to get the trendiest and the most stylish look: It is always advisable to keep it simple and spread prints across the upper and lower part of your ensemble. This gives you a balanced look.
Layering printed garments together can sometimes make your outfit look chaotic. Stick to a same-color family. "Mixing prints having a wide range of colours can make your outfit look distasteful. Always have one underlining base color and play your prints around that," said Simple Kaur, a well-known designer from Chandigarh. To play safe, go with black and white colours as they go with everything.
Funky accessories like a printed clutch, scarves, headbands or artfully printed footwear never fail to add a definite amount of punk to your look. When playing with accessories, always remember to match colours and not prints. Avoid going overboard. Layering prints with some solid-coloured plain clothes or accessories to balance your look can work wonders.
"Always pair a larger complicated print with a less dominant one," advised Simple. Avoid mixing two complicated prints. However, mixing common prints will help you create many new ensembles from your wardrobe. Pulling off the mixed-print look is not as hard as it seems and when done right, it can make you look fashion-forward and trendy.
